Fourth Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction
Not all elevated troponins indicate myocardial infarction, and distinguishing between Type 1 MI, Type 2 MI, and myocardial injury remains one of the most challenging areas of cardiac documentation. This Clinical Insight Series session provides CDI professionals with the clinical knowledge and documentation strategies needed to accurately classify cardiac events, apply coding guidelines, and identify opportunities for provider clarification.
By the end of this session, learners will be equipped to strengthen clinical validation practices, reduce documentation-related denials and misclassification, and support accurate reporting that reflects the true severity and complexity of patient care.
